About Me
An unsubstantiated 2017 study concluded that the person behind dirt & starlight (that would be me) was a magpie in a former life.
How else could one individual have collected so very many THINGS?? Over time (if you believe in linear time), atomic particles come together, break apart, realign; everything is always changing… from the sublime to the ridiculous and back again.
I try to catch a moment in that flight.
My history includes marine science, woodworking, writing, mechanics, and ornithology; they are all here.
My materials are mostly salvaged, reclaimed, or gathered from the outdoors.
My method is slow- not by design, but because I am constitutionally incapable of doing anything quickly (if you know a hack for this, you win free jewelry!).
It is both intentional and filled with trial and error.
Often what I create has its own ideas about what it wants to be. I am not making this up.
Here is a secret: the process of working with metal is actually magic.
Enough words.
Take a look.
