Sterling silver, hand-cut and filed. The bird on the band is a cygnet — a young swan, before it knows what it will become. Oxidised lightly and left matte. Sits wide on the finger; meant to be noticed.
This ring started as someone else's silver — melted, rolled into sheet, cut into the cygnet shape by hand with a jeweler's saw. The body of the bird is formed from the same piece; nothing is glued or soldered on. The oxidised finish will lighten with wear, which is as it should be.
The oxidised finish is intentional and part of the piece. It will lighten gradually with wear — this is normal and beautiful. If you want to keep the dark finish longer, avoid submerging in water, perfume, and harsh soaps. A soft cloth polish will brighten the silver if you prefer. Do not use ultrasonic cleaners.
